GARSHDay 1 of 7

Day 1

Gratitude

Not as a feeling. As a practice.

This Morning

What already exists in your life that you have not fully acknowledged?

Gratitude is not about pretending everything is fine. It is about training your attention. Dorothy Rose Tyler, who lived to 104, began each day by naming what was good, not because her life was easy, but because she understood that what you notice grows. This morning, before you do anything else, name three things. Not big things. Real things.

Reflect

She kept a positive attitude and smiled. She helped others. She talked to people. She loved everyone. She kept busy. These were not rules. They were habits. Habits built over a lifetime. Today, you begin building yours.

Today's Practice

Write three things you are grateful for right now

Not on your phone. On paper if you can. Three things. They can be small. A cup of coffee. A person who showed up. The fact that you are here and reading this. Write them down. Say them out loud if you are willing. Notice how it feels to name what is good.

"Keep a positive attitude and smile."

Dorothy Rose Tyler, in a letter to Tammi, written at age 103
